Poor Atlabara Thumped By Munuki

Atlabara FC dropped points for the first time under coach Nicola Peter since he took over the reigns at the club this season after 4-2 humiliating defeat to Munuki FC on Friday afternoon at Buluk Playground.

Atlabara started the game on a high note as they took an early lead through Athony Billy as he beat Snake’s goalie Noel Kwaje in the 21st minute of the game.

The Bara boys increased their lead with Athony Billy getting his second for the club with a powerful header from Jimmy Michael’s cross on the 42nd minute.

The Snakes missed a handful of great chances as Atlabara FC defense started to feel the pressure from Munuki attackers.

The pressure from Munuki finally yielded results as Atlabara FC goalkeeper Lukas Inoeche was beaten by Stephen Jack James’ header at the near post in added minutes of halftime to put his side into the game.

Two minutes after restart of the second spell, Jack capitalized on poor defending by Atlabara center-halves to sprint clear on goal with only helpless Lukas to beat and he finished superbly to draw the Snakes on level.

Jack James then grabbed his hat-trick in the 53rd minute, jumping over Atlabara defenders to head in, the Snakes third goal of the game.

Munuki FC talisman completed his team’s comeback with his fourth of the game after a poor clearance by yet again Atlabara defense.

Despite the tremendous comeback, Munuki FC ended the game with 10-men as Chan Peter was awarded his second yellow card on 88th minutes and coach Mohamed Adam was as well on the receiving end as the Munuki FC tactician was shown a straight red card for using offensive language towards the match officials.

As tension rose high between the two teams towards the end of the game, two of Atlabara staff were also shown red cards for questioning the match officials’ decisions.

The win moves Munuki to third position on the table, one point ahead of Kator FC who plays Gudele FC on Sunday and a point behind El Merreikh FC who earlier on beat Rainbow 1-0 on Friday.

The two teams will be back in action next weekend when Atlabara battles Al Merreikh FC while Munuki FC faces table leaders Malakia FC.
