BRIGHT STARS: Salaam FC Aweil midfielder Gum makes Cusin’s final 23-man squad

Salaam Aweil midfielder Gum Santino could make his debut for South Sudan national team after making to Coach Stefano Cusin’s final squad for the international friendly game against Algeria on Monday, 15th November, 2021.

Gum was called up to the provisional squad of 29 players by the Italian tactician after impressive display for his club during recent concluded South Sudan Cup tournament in Aweil.

The midfield maestro, helped his side to the semifinal of the Cup tournament before losing to eventual Champions Black Eagle.

Gum will become the first player from Aweil local league to play for South Sudan national team if he is handed his debut by Cusin on Monday.

Other debutants include defender Samuel Taban (Wazito FC – Kenya) who replaced Rashid Toha from the initial list.

Machop Malual Chol of Atlanta FC in USA, William Akio who was voted October’s best player of the month in the Canadian league for Valour FC and Maker Marial Maker of Atmofera FC in Lithuania.

South Sudan Cup final MOTM Bike James Bage of Amarat United was dropped from the final squad.

Ajou Chok, Omar Laute Michael, Gasper Adam Ali, Nelson Mandela and Mahmoud Shetii were all dropped as well.

The team is set to depart for Dubai where the game will take place on Monday afternoon.

Goalkeepers: Ramadan John Mayik (Malakia FC) Majak Mawith Maling (France), Juma Jenaro Awad (Khartoum).

Defenders: Matwakil Abdalakaim (Atlabara FC), Rehan Angier Malong (Munuki FC), Omot Sebit David (Atbara FC), Wani Ivan Adebo (Bull FC), Peter Maker Manyang (Zisco United), Samuel Taban Malis, John Kuol Chol (Wazito FC).

Midfielders: William Gama Emmanuel (Malakia FC), Abdallad Asad Musa (AFC Leopard), Data Elly Christopher (Kyetume), Loki Emmanuel Peter (Bright Stars), Machop Malual Chol (Atlanta FC), Jackson Morgan Obede (Germany), Chol Peter Bentiu (Kator FC).

Forwards: Tito Okello Odong (Gor Mahia) Makueth Wol Akeen (Mbarara City) Maker Marial Maker (Atmofere), William Akio (Valour FC), Abraham Majok (Australia), Santino Gum (Salaam FC Aweil).

This will be the first encounter at any level between the two sides. Algeria are the current African Champions and ranked at number one in the continent.
