Lake State Basketball Association Chairman Calls For Support

Lake State basketball Association Chairperson is urging the national federation to support local basketball association in order to develop the sport in the country.

Ater Noi Awol the current chairman of lake state basketball association told this website, his association faces huge challenges that he can not handle as an individual.

Mr. Ater said the association lacks proper basketball courts for the teams to use for training and also making it difficult for his administration to organize tournaments.

The chairman also attested that there are no qualified and trained coaches who can impart the knowledge to the young basketballers.

The other challenge according to Mr. Ater is lack of qualified referees within the state, which hinders the organization of leagues.

Mr. Ater also stressed the lack of balls in the association as one of the challenges they are facing. However, he confirmed that they received a total of only 9 balls from Loul Deng foundation last year.

Lake State chairman is therefore urging the national federation to support LBAs in order to improve and develop the sport in the country.

Since Loul Deng took over as SSBF president two years ago, there has been no basketball activities in most parts of the country. However, late last year, SSBF together with CESBA started the regular league in Juba.
