South Sudan boxing federation has elected a new administration during its general assembly sitting in Juba on Friday.
During the elections, the general assembly elected Ms. Teresa Athian as its president to be in office for the next four years.
The new president replaces Mr. Solomon Deng who has held the position since 2012 after the then minister of youth and sports degreed them into office.
will be deputized by Mr. Sebit Dog Deng After winning the position of vice president who attained who was elected an oppose to the position without any competitor.
In the position of secretary general Martin Obonyo Hakim won as an oppose to retain his sit for the next four years.
Jackob Mokuey was elected as finance secretary of the federation after gaining.
Abdurrahman John will represent the referees on the board while Kuo Kur Miurik represents the coaches on the board.
Meanwhile Ms. Babra Palviano will represent the boxers on the board members of the boxing federation.
Speaking during the elective general assembly, Mario Velvur Gunda representative from the ministry of Youth and Sports urged all federations that have not held their elective general assemblies yet their mandate has expired to do so.
“I would like to thank the NOC as the main head of all federations, we at the ministry would like to urge all the federations to legalize themselves by holding elections like the boxing has done,” said ……
The newly elected president of the federation thanked the general assembly for their trust in her and allowing her become the first women to lead a sports federation in the country.
““I want to give you all thanks for the trust you have entrusted on me, I was one of the founders of the federations, am happy for this opportunity of becoming the first woman to lead a federation in South Sudan,” said Teresa Athian.

Ms. Teresa Athian however, thanked the outgoing president for the tireless work he put to promote boxing in the country despite the other commitments and position he holds.
“I respect you and appreciate you for the work you have done because its not easy to work when you don’t have funds but you gave all you best to maintain the federation,” Teresa Athian added.
The new present also stressed her commitment to work hard and promote the sport of boxing in the country.
“I will do my best to promote the federation despite my other commitments out there I will give all that I can to make sure we promote boxing in South Sudan,” stressed Teresa Athian.
Since 2012 the South Sudan Boxing Federation has held any general assembly. The election comes after the international boxing federation threatened to suspend SSBXF from participating from its organized events.
This is the first time that South Sudan Boxing Federation is holding an elective general assembly to select its leadership.
