Yambio Second Division League: Al Salam FC ends Island City’s Unbeaten Run

Island City FC unbeaten run in the Yambio LFA Second Division League was brought to an end on Thursday 7th April, 2022 after they suffered a 1-0 defeat to rivals Al Salam FC and thanks to a 93rd minute goal from striker Takido Moses who had a cool finish resulting from a superb crossing.

Speaking to tk Sports after the game, Al Salam FC head coach Sabir Isaac said that, his team is determined to fight for a spot in the first division next season.

“We’ve trained very well with the lads, the team spirit in the boys is paying off and we shall fight until the last day of the competition”.

When asked about his team’s possible chances of qualifying to the first Division, this is what Sabir had to say; “We are not in bad position at the end of this first round, we are tied up on 23 points with the table leaders and this has given us every reason to even train harder to achieve our goal which is getting promotion to the first division”

The first round of games in the Yambio Second Division league is coming to an end and fixtures for the second round is expected next week.

Island City currently tops the table with 23 points, separated by goal difference with the second placed Al Salam FC, while Super Star FC are third on 20 points.
