Bright Starlets Kick Off Preparation For CECAFA Women’ Championship.

The national Women’ team (Bright Starlets) started preparation for the upcoming CECAFA women championship slotted for May 2022.

Last week, regional soccer governing body released hosts and dates for its seven tournaments with Uganda hosting the senior Women challenge cup starting May 22 to 5th June.

Under coach Shilene Booysen Bright Starlets are undergoing a one-week preparatory training to keep them fit before the tournament.

Speaking to the team after the morning training, SSFA president Augustino Madout said his administration will endeavor to do everything possible to support the girls achieve better results.

“We at the association are working tirelessly to see that we provide you all the necessary requirements for you to improve and get better results in the upcoming tournament,” Augustino said.

The SSFA boss however, urged the girls to show discipline and respect to the coach who he said was doing her best to improve their skills.

“My only appeal to you is to show discipline and respect to your coach who is doing her best to see that you improve on your skills every day. If you have discipline and respect for the coaches then your future is bright,” added Augustino.

 The country first took part in the competition in 2019 when they were eliminated from the group stages.

The Starlets lost two and won one during that tournament in 2019, but have along the years improved their performances.

The Bright Starlets are yet to know which group they will be drawn in as CECAFA have not announced the draws and the subsequent fixtures for the tournament which is one month from now.
