South Sudan Drawn Against Ethiopia In 2023 CHAN Qualifiers

South Sudan has been drawn against Ethiopia in the 2023 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers during the draws held on Thursday in Cairo.

The tournament brings together players playing their trade within domestic leagues.

The Winner of the two-legged game will then face Rwanda in the second to determine.

Ethiopia will host the first leg of the game between 22, 23rd and 24th July with the return leg between 26th, 27th and 28th August 2022.      

South Sudan has not gone past the qualifying stage of the competition with their last participation ending at the preliminary round.

The country’s last participation was in 2020 qualifiers, losing to Burundi in both legs.

South Sudan first took part in the CHAN qualifier games in 2017, when they progressed to the next round after beating Somalia home and away.

Next years tournament will host 18 teams compared to previous 16 slots after the Confederation of Africa Football agreeing to increase the number of participants.
