Manase Expresses His Feelings After First Start in the Defeat to Mali

Future Stars Football Academy graduate, Joseph Malish Manase was handed his first start by national team head Coach Stefano Cusin in the 1-3 defeat against Mali, on Thursday, 9th June at St. Mary’s Kitende Stadium.

The Kator ace displayed a man of the match performance as reiterated by some section of fans on tk SPORTS Facebook page after the disappointing results in the second game of AFCON 2023 qualifiers.

Manase’s impressive performance in the recent concluded season for the Loberas, helping them to win both Christmas and Ramadan Cup was recognized by the Italian tactician.

Earning him a call-up to the team and making a substitute appearance in first competitive game away to The Gambia in the opening fixture of Group G AFCON Qualifiers.

“First of all I need to thank God for the life and game. I really feel so much proud indeed”, the 19-year-old defensive midfielder told tk SPORTS after the game.

“To be a starting player (in the team), you need to do you best. I want to add more effort on this because it is just the starting of a good path”, the hard tackling midfielder concludes.

Despite the frustrating results for Manase and his mates, it was an personal achievement to the Kator FC midfielder’s career.

South Sudan has lost both their games in the opening rounds of qualifiers and have difficult task to make it into the tournament in Ivory Coast next year.
