South Sudan Football Association (SSFA) Secretary General Mr. Victor Lawrence Lual is convinced that his administration is working hard to launch professional Premier league in the new season of 2023.

The former Citizen FC club secretary during a live show, tk SPORTS Drive on Sunday, assured that almost 70% of the technical structure of the league is done.

“People should understand that Premier league is not something that you can just sit and say next month I am going to organize, because there are a lot of things that needs to be put in place”.

“As SSFA we need to know who is taking care of what? Are the clubs going to take care of their travels and accommodation? What are the things that SSFA will be taking care of? So, it’s not just a one day meeting and then we declare that we are starting the premier league on this time”.

“But the preparations and meetings are still going on and everything will be shared as soon as possible but quite number of meetings have been done and the format is also 70% agreed on, just remaining how it will be implemented”, SG explains.

Mr. Victor reiterated the fact that it’s not easy to come up with a comprehensive decision as to when the league can be organized but he remains optimistic of the set target by the football governing body in the country.

“Yeah, hopefully 2023 will be and that’s the target that we have put as SSFA and from now to that time a lot of things would have been sorted out”.

South Sudan has been operating in a very dynamic system, where by 16-Local FAs organize their leagues and their champions are drawn in Zones to play each other, before the winners of respective Zones advance to the final stages of the league.

The final winner then takes part in the CAF Champions League preliminary round, whereas the winner of Cup competition features in CAF Confederations Cup.
