Zalan FC, Hilal Wau Know Their Opponents in Continental Club Competitions

South Sudan representatives have been drawn against fellow East African opponents in the preliminary rounds of CAF Champions League and Confederations Cup respectively.

The national league Champions, Zalan FC Rumbek will come up against Tanzanian Premier league champions Young Africans SC.

The latter went unbeaten last season to be crowned champions for the 28th time in the decorated history of the club that was founded on 11th February, 1935.

This is Zalan’s debut season in the continental prestige competition and will play host in the first leg of the preliminary round.

The Rumbek based club will be hoping to be the first South Sudanese team to advance from this stage since 2012.

The Tanzanian Champions have appeared 15 times in the same competition and made once to the group stages, four times in the First round including last season.

They will be a tough opponents for Zalan FC to go past on paper and the fact that the both games will be played in Tanzania, makes it an added advantage to Yanga.

The first leg, which Zalan will host is between 9th – 11th September and the return leg between 16th – 18th September.

Whereas, Al Hilal Wau has been drawn against Zanzibar Second Division side Kipanga FC. This is going to be the second appearance for both sides in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Kipanga FC won the Zanzibar Premier league way back in 2000 as their first ever major title.

Al Hilal FC Wau will host their home game in Khartoum between 9th – 11th September before flying to Zanzibar for the return leg between 16th – 18th September.
